Kinja'd!!!

Anyone who knows me or has caught my previous posts on the matter, will know I’ve changed work a lot. Originally I went from retail to a job 300 miles away, which wasnt as advertised (basically they outsourced what I was going to be doing, so i ended up a PA to someone). I then went back to retail and currently hate it.

In a twist the company I moved for have offered me a job much closer to home and doing what I actually want to do (structural/ civil engineering). Pretty happy but also hesitant after it going wrong the last time.

On the one hand I’d say it is nice of them to think about offering the job to you, on the other hand if they don’t give you a guarantee the same won’t happen, you might still get stuck in the same situation.

However if you hate your current job, you can always try right? And more money means you can do stuff on the compact.

Congrats on the new offer. It sounds promising! What is there to lose — what about your current position would you not want to see gone (except, maybe, employment haha)? Worst case, you end up in another situation that isn’t as promised, right? At least it’s closer to home. OTOH there’s a chance it’s better *and* closer to home. Maybe there’s a way to find out in advance from other employees whether the firm ever keeps its promises to them

Best wishes mate!

Its basically what you say, my current job sucks so why not give it a try. But they have demonstrated ill be doing a job more relevant to me than before so fingers crossed.

Nothing to lose really, I’d be planning to move on from my current job no matter what. Even if it ends up being a kinda crappy job, the pay is massively better than current and its near enough home that it doesnt affect my life outside of work too much.

Yeah for sure, worst case I earn a few decent paychecks while I see what else is on the market.
